Indefatigable Artist Podcast Ep. 17 – A Blank Slate
Welcome to the Indefatigable Artist Podcast
Episode 17 - A Blank Slate
I don’t know. I just felt like going off on a riff this morning. Morning writings come to me like that, I just flow. I don’t try to rhyme or really have a main point I am trying to make. I am just capturing a feeling that I have in that moment. Just free flow. One day I think I will be able to do that verbally.
I am practicing reciting my poems so that I can do some open mics around the city and give a proper performance that will be captivating.
This is my scheduled time to just write. Just to fucking write, to let it all out there. I write throughout the week, jotting things down, writing dreams down, or a scene for a possible story, but this time, on these early Friday mornings, is my allocated time to just sit and write, really as much as I can in one session. Just to focus on the words, while listening to my set playlist that I repeat every week.
Am now in my new home office in New York. Just thrilled to be in this city, really. I never had a lifelong dream to live in this city or anything, but that is just how life happened. And now that I am here, at this moment in my life, I had an epiphany. A sudden rush, and I saw all of these past experiences flash by my eyes from different periods of my life, different inspirations as well, people who inspired me, books I have read, and realized that it all has lead to this, to my being here. It’s been a long arduous road as everyone’s life is, but through it all I have continued following my Bleace, continued creating, continued writing through it all, no matter what, allowing my soul’s energy to create something that will hopefully resonate with others.
That is truly all that matters at the end.
I started reading this book, the power of now, by Ekhart Tolle. I saw a video of Jim Carey talking about this book, and the funny thing is, that I had seen that video years ago, but it never clicked in my head to look up the book he was talking about, I don’t know why, maybe something in the universe was like you’re not ready for this book yet, you need to go through more life before you will truly appreciate the words and the message involved. Which is a similar reason why I try to refrain from recommending books to read or movies to watch to others, I like to let their energy attract what calls to them, who I am to say YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS or YOU HAVE TO READ THIS. Oh my, you haven’t seen that? How have you not seen that yet? I certainly think that, especially when I was studying films in college.
But I saw this video of Jim talking about reading Tolle’s books and going to his seminars and having this moment of awakening that sent him down this new life path, which then his career and his movie choices since that moment started to all make sense. One of them, most blatantly being Yes Man.

But reading this book right now, at this time in my life, has just been perfect timing. It’s just hit me like a tidal wave and turning me into a being that can breathe underwater and just going with the flow.
Its having gone through what I have that I appreciate this book so much and it aligns with so much of what I have been writing and saying since my heart surgery. Of how I have tried to be as present as I can to each and every moment. And how I have tried to find who I really am, which then alleviated the anxiety I was feeling of trying to be someone I wasn’t.
Reading this book brought me back to my first episodes of this podcast, when I talked about my head concussions, the white flash, the black train that nearly hits me, then I wake up.
I almost wish everyone could have a near death experience, or something that takes them out of this illusion we call reality, so that they can widen their perspective.
We all stay connected on social media, but I have a hard time relating to a lot of others. They just take things that their parents did as the way to live life so they cling onto that, whatever they call normal, they cling onto it and are so fearful to let go, so fearful of doing something different, they have to fit in, they have to fit this definition and this expectation placed on them by their environment, they cannot see any other way to live, there is only these places to visit because that is where our parents visited, and we only think what our parents think and do not dare branch out, we have a fixed mindset as to this is the way it has always been and this is the way it will always be, I call this thing reality and this life I live is normal, we have it all figured out, all life questions have been answered, I will cling onto this thought for as long as I live because I am so fearful of thinking something new, of trying something new, of expanding my perspective to a rapidly changing environment that I refuse to change, I refuse to adapt a growth mindset, nope, I am strong minded, I have a fixed mindset, I absolutely refuse, have to pry this grip on reality from my cold dead hands, I am not letting go!
I just can’t relate to them anymore. Even more so now. I am so present in this moment that many of them when we talk online, it’s like I am being brought to another time, another place, a foreign place that feels ancient, archaic. They think they know who I am because they knew me years ago, but I am so far from that person, yet many are still the same as they were then. They have attained a fixed mindset and won’t let that go.
Whatever we have to do to get by in this life I guess.
Me I choose to go into the vast dark void of the unknown, I will dive head first into that wormhole, not knowing where the other side leads. I am open to communicate with artificial intelligence and to learn more about quantum computing and what impact that will have on humans.
I find it funny when people are so against it. Like nope, don’t like that. That’s the end of humanity as we know. The fear mongering. Not realizing that a lot of it stems from movies they have watched.
That is not to say all of what has been developed is positive, it most certainly isn’t.
But it’s a continuation of problems that are already occurring.
I just look at the over 100 million people in America who don’t have a reading comprehension above 6th grade, meanwhile, the latest version of ChatGPT that aced the bar exam with a score nearing the 90th percentile, how will they stand a chance against a computer that has access to every written text on record?
Again, I come back to the question, how can humans intellectually compete with artificial intelligence?
The answer I received from Chat GPT was emotional intelligence.
Which, again it’s more alignment with what I set out to do with my initial thesis paper. To widen perspective and to raise the emotional intelligence of the spectator in cinema, of the user of social media and now, the individual that is being created in artificial intelligence. I use the word individual here instead of humanoid as that is a separate argument, if they are human or not, they are an individual, their own validity, but how do humans treat other species? Historically? Why don’t elephants have a delegation of their own? Why do humans continue to slaughter them for ivory in 2023? Why do there need to be limits placed on Whaling? On killing Dolphins? Shouldn’t we just know not to do such a thing without it being written into law?
That is my angle with considering them other than human, is I look at how humans treat other species, the utter disdain for life, even their own, I mean people are still eat McDonald’s in 2023, after everything we know now about health. People are still making a choice to go to McDonald’s which continues to lead to more obesity where almost have the united states is considered obese.
We have to analyze human behavior in the most objective way possible. This is the only way to truly create a change. If I ran through my apartment and ran into a wall, broke my foot, I would then change my behavior so next time I don’t take that same path that lead to my injury. The same has to be true of these evidence-based objective facts that lie before us.
Let me list what I think needs to change and for many to hear this, their first defense will be to laugh because they will think that is so outside the bounds of their perceived illusory reality that it’s unattainable, their life would cease meaning and in order for that meaning to stay, they will have to belittle this list, their ego will have to feel superior in some way in order to keep existing in their mind, to admit they are wrong would be tantamount to death, and that way of thinking has lead to countless lives being lost throughout human history.
The list of behaviors that are negatively affecting the human species, at least in my view, I can certainly add more as they arise.
- Selfish Greed.
- Billionaires simply should not exist while there are people starving to death every day, this is an imbalance to our ecosystem and is having more negative effects than positive. Monetary value is too often placed ahead of the well being for not only the human species, but all species on this planet including the environment which we all share. When a human being is taking their last breathe, does it matter how much illusory money they have on their bank account screen? Does that stop the car accident from happening, the plane from crashing?
- Not knowing the difference between opinion-based beliefs and evidence-based facts
- Just look at Fox News and their recent lawsuits over the past decade. Their own lawyers stating in court, no reasonable person would watch our network to get facts they watch to get opinions. Yet they still remain the most watched network and their lines get repeated by millions of people around the country.
- It’s slowing our response to climate change and to the decline of the ecosystem.
- It’s causing people to still eat at McDonald’s and eat unhealthy. It makes the response to curable diseases slower.
- Question yourself on this, if there is a new anti-virus software out, do you hesitate to update your computer or do you continue to let it be vulnerable?
- Fixed Mindset over Growth Mindset
- Too many are fixed in their way of living and refuse to change given new information.
- It’s ok to change your opinion on something or someone. It is ok to change, live each day anew, continue to learn, learning is lifelong, to remain stagnant is death!
- Valuing competition over cooperation
- People love to point to that saying from Darwin, survival of the fittest, yet ignore all his writing on the importance of cooperation and communication.
- We have to learn how to cooperate with one another.
- Not enough time and value placed on mental health
- Even Chat GPT knows the importance of emotional intelligence. I think this needs to be taught at a very early age so that people can learn how to handle their emotions better. I think the youth are crying out for help with every crazed act one of them commits, or the acts that are happening daily, the cyber bullying, hazing, etc.
- We need to grow and that growth is mainly mental, we have a lot of mental obstacles to overcome.
I will just stick with those five for now, I could continue, I like where that conversation is going actually, and phrasing it that way came from just writing it out, I just continue to write about that topic because I care, and I find the more I write about it, the more angles I can take with it.
Now I would love to keep going and hopefully future episodes will be longer, but for now, all I have is this set time alotted to this podcast, as it is just a hobby for now. The Indefatigable Artist Podcast is open to the right sponsor as long as our values align, if you’re interested please reach out, email me anytime at support@bleace.com or DM me BleaceNFT on All Socials. I would love the opportunity to take this podcast to the next level. It’s been hard for to do this podcast justice in terms of social media marketing, very hard to keep up, but I am just grateful that I am able to get out a new episode every week, I am laying that foundation.
I appreciate all who take the time to check the podcast out, we are approaching 300 listens so far, which is just incredible. Seeing the support from all over the world, peeps tuning in from all walks of life, and think I have Web 3, the metaverse, the Digital Pangea that has brought us all together in such a way. I had no expectations for this podcast, only to connect more with others, to share more about me, to put out a recording of my life and I do this not only through this podcast, but my live streaming as well, which I will be doing more now that I am in NYC. Doing IRL streams, like the one we did on the rooftop, as well as streams from different art gallery events we will be going to, including the Web 3 meetup we have planned tomorrow at Lions Milk coffee shop in Brooklyn! So anyone in NYC this weekend, come hang out! Should be a good time.
Thank you for listening and will see you next week!
