Metaverse Music Video Festival at Afrodroids Lab
March 2022 was epic. I will look back at that month and say that was the month I became fully enveloped in Web 3. Where all the months of hard work in the dark, finally came to the light. March 2022 perfectly captured the saying, your vibe attracts your tribe.
The Weekend of March 25th was the first time I ever went to a full 3-Day Metaverse Music Video Festival at the Afrodroids Lab in Cryptovoxels. I streamed all three days Live on Twitch! Be sure to check out the channel to watch future events like this and just hang out!
The concert was a surreal experience in and of itself. What took it to another level for me, was the fact that I had been hearing these artists in Twitter Spaces for months. Artists like Shark Anthony, Arye, Serena Elis, Rivers, Dyl, and Jovian. So to go from just hearing their voices to seeing their videos played in the Metaverse during this festival, put me high on a plane! I loved every second of those three days during the festival. Hearing music of theirs that I may have known, and hearing songs that I didn’t, was all really inspiring. With each new experience in this Web 3 space, it just reaffirms that this is the future and that is exactly what this festival felt like, Going further in the future.
Speaking of the future, The Afrodroids story is set in 3045. The year everything changed. Humanity’s carelessness, disregard, and refusal to nurture the earth as it had nurtured us, has led to the total annihilation of mankind. Not a single human was left.
Here is a picture of my Afrodroid that I minted a few days ago! Absolutely love the colors and fits in perfectly with my violet vibe style.
Afrodroids is a generative NFT project founded by Owo, a persistent artist who publishes new art every day. I have a lot of respect for anyone who takes on that endeavor as it is no easy feat. There are 12,117 Afrodroids that have sold out, secondary sales are available on there verified account on Opensea. They have an Interactive 3D/AR Model for mobile devices, as well as an AR Filter on Instagram and Facebook.
20% of sales is donated to Dream Catchers Academy. Dream Catchers Academy for Girls is a subsidiary of The Dream Nurture Foundation. A non-profit Academy, offering education opportunities, leadership skills, and a better life for street and underprivileged girls, through dance, drama, music and visual arts. With these donations they have since built the first Free Art Academy in Nigeria funded by Web 3. It’s really amazing not only for the children that will benefit from this school, but amazing for the Web 3 and NFT community as a whole. It shows the impact that Cryptocurrency can have on humanity as it stands right now. This foundation also raises awareness of what NFTs are. We are so early in this, that I find myself constantly having to tell people what NFTs even are, so a story and a foundation like this, makes that hurdle so much easier to climb.
Around 80% of the World’s population lives on $2.85 per day. With Cryptocurrency we are able to move funds around the globe at a fraction of the cost in a fraction of the time. Seeing this school get built by the Afrodroids project made it a very easy decision to make when buying into an NFT project.
To share my first Metaverse Music Video Festival with such an amazing project was really surreal and a weekend I will never forget. It was the best way to end what was a historically epic month for me in the Web 3 space.
