Experiencing Cudder's Clubhouse and Kid Cudi's Impact on the Creative Spirit
Cudder’s Clubhouse was unlike any other concert experience I have ever witnessed. From bringing random fans on stage to seeing Kid Cudi take shots with them and smoke a blunt with them in between songs, the fact that is only possible now in 2023, was just spectacular.
This was my second time seeing him live and he is so immersed with the crowd already, and then took that up a level last night with Cudder’s Clubhouse, where he brought 8 random fans from the crowd and sat them on stage, gave them shots of Don Julio 1942 with as many blunts as they could smoke. That must have been a high unlike any other. I have never in my life seen a musician or performer do that, and he said it was his first time doing something like that. It was incredible to see.
@bleaceart Kid Cudi is back with Cudder’s Clubhouse where he played his entire discography and brought Fan’s Onstage at King’s Theater in NYC! #LiveMusic #fridaythe13th #FoxTheater #nycevents ♬ Memories (feat. Kid Cudi) - David Guetta
There was one fan who was pulled up who had a tattoo on his arm of Cudi, and the man choked up and said you saved my fucking life man, and I felt that so fucking deeply. The sad part of that moment is that I was recording it, and it stopped right in the middle, my phone bugged out from all of the videos I was taking, lesson learned to put it on airplane mode – think it was trying to upload them in real time with poor signal and bugged out the phone, this had happened once recently as well, worse the first time, just unfortunate that it happened in that video of all of the ones that I took. That was the most meaningful one that I wanted to get.
With concerts I like to be in the moment as much as possible, maybe just grab a few quick clips for a video recap but that’s it. Especially with Cudi, after seeing him live the first time, he actually called that out and asked the crowd to be in the moment, that he would rather see our face, than a phone in his, and it just clicked for me, of seeing it from his view, was very powerful message. Be in the moment.
That was a message he said, and why I love experiencing his songs live. The stories he tells in between are so powerful and resonate so much with me. It was inspiring to see him and the message that he spreads.
He inspired one of my characters and a chapter in one of the Bleace novels. Kid Cudi’s poetry has been with me every step of my artistic journey. Through it all I have had Kid Cudi in my playlists. He and Ludovico Einaudi have been with me since the beginning and have had a profound effect on my craft. I try to pay homage to them in any way I can.
In 2016, I was fortunate enough to meet Kid Cudi at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. A revolutionary experience getting to meet him. I was on cloud 9, I tried to memorize something to say but looking in his eyes, my mind went blank, but I did tell him that he changed me life and that he inspired me to write and express myself more.
I write poetry but I don’t really write songs, so it was through listening to his albums that I tried to base some of my song poetry on. I have wanted to make my own beats for a while now, but just haven’t found the time to learn the software and pay for the equipment needed as I needed to purchase other equipment for others things that I wanted to do, again only 24 hours in a day, we have to choose wisely on how to spend it.
Before the concert I was asked by a random person from Concert Chronicle what song I wanted to hear from Kid Cudi and I said Rose Golden, which he did play, was incredible to hear live. That song is at the top of my morning playlist and could listen to that song ever single day of my life as it resonates so much with my journey and what I have set out to do with my Live Streaming.
To show the importance creativity has to emotional intelligence. To show kids that it’s ok to express yourself, to be vulnerable, that there is strength in that. Kid Cudi did that for me and has done that for millions of other people as well.
Seeing him be vulnerable and always willing to stay true to who he is as an artist even though it might mean that sales go down, he stayed true and now, everyone is seeing how fucking real that is.
In 2023, it’s time for the world to recognize and respect what Kid Cudi has done not just with his long discography, but for the whole mindset of creating for the sake of creating as it’s one of the most inspiring stores in the past decade. Scott Mescudi, I am forever grateful for you and will always praise you for showing me self-expression is cool, that embracing who you are is cool despite what anybody else may think or say, it’s raw expression for the sake of raw expression and there is nothing more universal than that.
Bleace wouldn’t be what it is today without the impact and influence of Kid Cudi through the energy he expressed, through the words he wrote in his poetry. I hope one day he checks out the novels, and one day when the animated films are made, can watch them and hopefully resonate with the message that I am sharing!
Special thanks to Kolorful Karol for bringing me with you to this once in a lifetime experience!
